The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
