'People are afraid' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

It's obvious why Arsenal have become countless pundits' favorites to claim the Premier League during this term.

Look at their results against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them during this campaign, but dropped 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a crucial element why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title ambition.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their effectiveness from free kicks is well known, but rival sides still struggle to stop the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just afraid of them and it is great to see."

Championship Claims

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and possessing the most resilient defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have labeled Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with belief and resolve.
