Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
