Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
